During the visit, they had a discussed with the members of the parliament, B. Delgersaikhan and T. Enkhtuvshin about current challenges of the wind farm.
The Sainshand wind farm is currently the largest German privately invested project in Mongolia and the largest renewable energy project in Mongolia. The wind farm has an installed capacity of 55 MW with a total investment of USD 120 million.
The wind farm has produced 866 million kWh of clean energy and delivered 653 million kWh of clean energy to the Mongolian power grid since it went live in January 2019. The environmental relevance of the project is correspondingly high: the project saves 2 million m3 of fresh water every year; 50,000 tons of coal; 200,000 tons of CO2 emissions. It produces an average of 210 million kWh of clean energy annually, which is equivalent to the energy needs of 100,000 households.
